Police arrested alleged West Philly tire slasher

Philadelphia police yesterday arrested a man they say is responsible for the slashing of 59 tires on Hazel Street between 47th and 50th streets and on the 5300 block of Chancellor Street.

Harry Gaines, 27, of the 6000 block of Angora Terrace in Southwest Philadelphia, was taken into custody yesterday near 52nd and Market streets. He is charged with criminal conspiracy, criminal mischief and related offenses.

Investigators said the arrest was the result of intense investigation and numerous anonymous tips.
