Police identify pair charged in Frankford car meet

Two out-of-towners have been charged in connection with a crowded car meet-up that police disbanded Saturday night in Frankford.

Authorities identified the suspects Monday as Chase Possert, 19, of Hamilton, New Jersey, and David Wyche, 33, who lives in West Norriton. Both were apprehended just after 9:45 p.m. as officers broke up an unsanctioned car meet at Torresdale and Adams avenues, according to investigators.

Possert is accused of driving a car into a police cruiser while attempting to flee the area. No one was injured in the collision, the PPD said.

He has been charged with four misdemeanors, including criminal mischief, institutional vandalism and resisting arrest. Officers cited four 17-year-old boys who also in the car with Possert, police said.

Separately, officers responding to the meet apprehended Wyche for allegedly drag racing with a Dodge Charger. He was charged with reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct and reckless driving.

The Defender’s Association, which is representing both men, declined to comment. Possert and Wyche were each released on $10,000 unsecured bond.

Police said a large group gathered for the meet, which featured cars performing burnouts and other stunts. While officers were dispersing the crowd, someone threw a tequila bottle at a PPD vehicle, cracking the windshield, according to authorities.
