Police have confirmed that the man found dead floating near the East Falls Bridge last week was a senior citizen reported missing four months ago.
Vito Maglio, Sr., 69, was reported missing in December, last seen at Macaroni’s Restaurant Lounge located at 9315 Old Bustleton Avenue.
Police were called at 3:57 p.m. on March 27 to the 3900 block of Kelly Drive for reports of a body in the Schuylkill.
The body was identified as Maglio using medical records.
“Examination determined that the cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds,” PPD public information officer Leeloni Palmiero said.
The Daily News reported that Maglio’s black Yukon GMC was discovered burning in Germantown on Dec. 18.
A pool of blood and spent bullet casing were reportedly found in the car at that time.
Palmiero said the case has been referred to the Homicide Unit for investigation.
