Police have identified the woman killed Monday night in a crash at Red Lion Road and Haldeman Avenue as Anna Marie Drummond, 22.

Investigators said Drummond was the front seat passenger in a 2005 Mercury Marquis that was driving east on Red Lion Road toward the Roosevelt Boulevard when it shortly before 11:15 p.m. crossed over Haldeman Avenue and hit the median.

The car then crashed into a 1994 Mercury Marquis that was driving beside it in the right lane.

Police said the 1994 Marquis slammed into a tree on the right curbside, then came to a rest in the left lane.

The 2005 Marquis then lost control, crashing into a tree on the right curbside, where it burst into flames.

Bystanders helped the driver and rear passenger out of the car, but police said Drummond remained trapped inside.

Drummond, of the 4300 block of I Street in Juniata Park, was pronounced dead on the scene.

The driver of the 2005 Marquis, a 22-year-old woman, was taken to Aria Health-Torresdale for a broken right leg.

The car’s rear passenger, a 1-year-old male infant, suffered a cut lip.

The driver of the 1994 Marquis, a 24-year-old man, did not require treatment for any injuries.

A front seat passenger in that car, a 19-year-old woman, and a rear passenger, a 1-year-old male infant, were both taken to Aria Health-Torresdale for observation.

Police said Tuesday the accident was under investigation, and that no charges had yet been filed in connection with the crash.
