Philadelphia police are investigating an incident of sexual assault at the Made in America Festival that took place last weekend in the Art Museum area.
The incident allegedly occurred around 9 p.m. Sunday night, near 24th Street and the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, CBS Philly reported. The victim, a16-year-old girl, said she was watching a performer on stage when a man walked up behind her, pulled down her jean shorts and sexually assaulted her.
“She screamed, alerting other people that were in that area,” Philadelphia Police Lt.John Stanford told CBS Philly.
The suspect fled once the girl screamed.
“She was transported over to a medical tent that was in the facility itself and then from there she was transported over to [the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia]to be examined,” Lt. Stanford said.
According to 6ABC, the Special Victims Unit is investigating the incident.
