Detectives are trying to identify two men who stole jewelry from a South Philadelphia house while posing as construction workers last week.

The burglary occurred at around 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12, at a home on the 2900 block of S. Juniper Street, according to police.

One of the suspects knocked on the door and claimed to be from a construction company, authorities said. He said he needed to check on a rear deck at the request of a building inspector, police reported.

He and the victim went to the deck and spoke for five to 10 minutes, according to investigators. During that time, a second male suspect entered the home and took valuables from a second-floor bedroom, police said.

No injuries were reported, and the men did not threaten the victim, according to the PPD. Both fled the area on foot.

Anyone with information about the burglary is asked to contact the department’s South Detective Division at 215-686-3013; call or text 215-686-TIPS (8477) or go to www.phillypolice.com/forms/submit-a-tip.
