Delaware State Police on Thursday arrested a Wilmington man after they say a maid found a gun in his hotel room, which allegedly lead officers to a stash of heroin.
Troopers were called to the Courtyard Marriott Hotel on Rocky Run Parkway shortly after 1 p.m. by a housekeeper who said she found a handgun as she was cleaning a room.
An investigation allegedly revealed the room was registered to Omarr Scott, 26, who had been seen leaving the hotel in his vehicle prior to the housekeeper’s discovery.
Police said they performed a computer inquiry and found Scott was a convicted felon whose past offenses included a September 2011 charge of aggravated menacing.
Officers obtained a search warrant for Scott’s hotel room, where they said they found a fully loaded .32 caliber revolver and saw what appeared to be illegal drugs.
After being granted a second search warrant, detectives from the New Castle County Drug Unit allegedly found in Scott’s room 1,986 bags of heroin totaling over 49 grams, along with $700 in suspected drug proceeds.
Scott was a short time later stopped by troopers and taken into custody without incident.
He is charged with possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, along with controlled substance possession.
Scott was on Friday jailed at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $110,000 cash bail.
