Police: Pregnant woman beaten to death in South Philadelphia

A woman, reportedly six months pregnant, was beaten to death in the basement of her South Philadelphia home early this morning, police said.

Officers and paramedics rushed to the scene at a house on the 2300 block
of South Mildred Street, between 8th and 9th streets near Wolf Street,
after receiving a 911 call shortly before 2:30 a.m. They found the victim, 24,
with severe blunt force trauma to the head and pronounced her dead seven
minutes later.

Initial reports indicate that a three-year-old and eight-year-old child
were also present at the time of the death. There were reportedly no
signs of forced entry, and police said they believe this is an isolated
incident.

Authorities have not yet released a motive or made any arrests.
