Police have recovered the vehicle that was used in a Monday hit-and-run that killed a 4-year-old boy, they confirmed Wednesday morning.
The Daily News reported that police were in contact with the attorney of a 27-year-old woman who is considered a “person of interest” in the fatal crash and who will meet with police today, according to unnamed sources.
A police spokeswoman would not comment on those reports but noted that the hit-and-run driver may not be the same person whom the vehicle is registered to.
The crash occurred around 6:30 p.m. April 13 in Kingsessing near 57th Street and Florence Avenue.
The victim, a 4-year-old, darted out into the street from between two parked cars and was hit by the car. The car then ran over the boy while he was lying in the street, police said. The driver was described as a black female.
The child was transported to Children’s Hospital of Pennsylvania and pronounced dead at 7:06 p.m.
The office of Mayor Michael Nutter has offered a $20,000 reward for information leading to the driver’s arrest.
