Police search students at Concord High School following threats

Students and staff at Concord High School in Brandywine Hundred, Del., arrived on campus to an increased police presence this morning after threatening messages were discovered on a social learning platform over the weekend.

Delaware State Police troopers joined school staff in searching students at the New Castle County school this morning after “threatening, offensive, vulgar and demeaning messages and pictures” were found on website Edmodo, according to Brandywine School District Superintendent Mark Holodick.

In a phone message that went out to all Concord High homes and was later posted on the district website, Holodick stated:

“Both the Delaware State Police and the district were informed Saturday morning that threatening, offensive, vulgar, and demeaning messages and pictures had been posted on Edmodo, a social learning platform. The Delaware State Police began an investigation immediately. Other agencies assisted in the investigation. While the investigation is still ongoing, we do know that the threat to Concord originated in a southern state, not here in Delaware. The state police there are investigating thoroughly.”

Absences will be excused if parents send in a note explaining why their children were kept home.
