The Philly area’s biggest mall was on lockdown Monday after gunshots rang out inside the mall’s parking garage.
An armed suspect was wounded and placed under arrest after being shot by an Upper Merion police officer during the incident in the parking garage. No further details about the suspect, any activities, or why the officer needed to use a gun were released as of press time.
Montgomery County DA Kevin Steele released a statement on Monday saying that detectives from his office were investigating and would provide a “fair and thorough” investigation into “whether the decision to use deadly force is lawful in that situation.”
The two officers present during the shooting and the suspect were not identified. Both officers are on desk duty, pending the investigation’s results.
The suspect was listed in serious condition at Paoli Hospital as of press time.
