A police officer fired a shot at a man while responding to an alleged burglary Thursday in Northeast Philadelphia, authorities said.
The man was not struck by the gunfire, and no officers were hurt during the incident, according to police.
The Philadelphia Police Department said preliminary information indicates that officers responded just before 12:15 p.m. to a report of a burglary in progress on the 7600 block of Lexington Avenue in the Lexington Park neighborhood.
Several officers used their tasers on the man, and one of the officers on scene fired a single bullet, police said. The man was taken to Nazareth Hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries, according to authorities.
An arrest was made, though a police spokesperson could not confirm whether the man who was tased was the burglary suspect, citing an developing investigation.
