A woman feared missing after what was reported as a Halloween night kidnapping has been found safe, police announced Sunday evening.
Surveillance footage outside a Sunoco gas station at 52nd and Spruce streets in West Philly showed what appeared to be a kidnapping of an unidentified woman by three men on Halloween night around 10:30 p.m. However, less than three hours after police released surveillance footage of the incident, the woman was identified and located safe at home.
“The female was upset due to recent personal matters and she had fled from another vehicle while driving with a family member,” police announced at 6 p.m. Sunday. “The video that was released to the media depicts the female’s family members grabbing her to take her home where she would receive the full support of her family.”
Police: Suspected kidnapping report was just family dispute
The video surveillance showed the woman resisting a male as he grabbed her after she bought some items inside the store and then struggling with her to make her enter a minivan.
