Police: Woman shot in Mount Airy has died

A woman who was shot in the head in Mount Airy early this morning has died, police said.

The woman, 31, was sitting in a car with a man on the 1100 block of East Mount Airy Avenue shortly after 2:15 a.m. when someone came up and shot her once in the head.

She was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center by private auto, where she was initially placed in critical condition, but died shortly after 2 p.m. this afternoon.

Investigators said they are still on the scene attempting to find and interview witnesses. There is no word on a suspect or motive, and the victim’s identity has not yet been released.
