Poll: Nutter doing OK job

Less than half of Philadelphians think the city is a good or excellent place to live, although 6 out of 10 say it’s better or the same as it was four years ago, according to a State of the City poll released on Thursday.

The Franklin & Marshall College survey polled 400 residents between Jan. 31 and Feb. 7. The poll indicates that 50 percent of residents have a favorable opinion of Mayor Michael Nutter versus 32 percent unfavorable. Only one-third (34 percent) of respondents, however, say that Nutter has done a good or excellent job.

The survey comes at the end of a week during which Nutter announced hundreds of new jobs, something voters rank as the second most important issue facing the city. As usual, crime is the No. 1 issue, but was only cited by 31 percent of respondents.
