Joe Paterno will turn 83 in a few weeks. Right now, he’s attempting to lead Penn State (10-2) to another BCS bowl game.
Meanwhile, his longtime friend and adversary, Bobby Bowden, officially retired yesterday after a 44-year coaching career.
“Bobby has been a tough competitor. He has meant an awful lot to the universities he coached and to the game of football overall,” Paterno said in a statement yesterday.
Paterno, who is signed through the 2010 season, has 393 career wins, five ahead of Bowden.
