Do The Roots ever sleep? Aside from their work on “The Tonight Show” and a bunch of independent projects that range from comedy to cookbooks, founding members Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson and Tariq “Black Thought” Trotter are teaming up with AMC for an installment in their new documentary series, “AMC Visionaries.”
One of the first installments of the series called “Rap Yearbook” will be executive produced by Questlove and Black Thought as well as Shawn Gee of Philly Films and Emmy Award-winning filmmakers Alex Gibney and Stacey Offman of Jigsaw Productions.
“We are really excited to create this thought provoking series with AMC and Jigsaw Productions,” says Questlove and Black Thought. “We are just beginning to enter the Film and TV content creation space in a big way, through our production company Passyunk Productions and to have ‘Rap Yearbook’ as one of our first projects greenlit to series, and AMC and Jigsaw as our partners, it’s an amazing way to launch our production company. This will be a great journey”.”
The six-part series is expected to premiere in 2018 on AMC.
