Sunday marked the six year anniversary since the death of the legendary Amy Winehouse, a powerhouse vocalist and songwriter best known for songs like “Rehab,” “Back to Black” and “Tears Dry On Their Own.”
What many may not know about the late singer is her friendship with Philly’s own Questlove “Ahmir” Thompson, who paid tribute to Winehouse on Instagram on Sunday night.
In a 2012 interview, Questlove reveals that Amy Winehouse taught him a lot about jazz.
“She schooled me about Sarah Vaughn. I schooled her on J-Dilla,” he reflected at the time.“
“She’s a teacher. More than just my Skype buddy. She taught me a lot.”
She even wanted to start a supergroup with Questlove, Mos Def and Raphael Saadiq.
Could you imagine how epic that would have been?
