RBC Heritage 2024: 5 best deep-value betting picks for this weekend

The Masters is now in the rear-view mirror which means Major season is underway. The next stop on the PGA Tour sees a stacked field head to Harbour Town Golf Links for the RBC Heritage, and there are some great deep-value players to back this weekend.

Will Zalatoris

Zalatoris is not a deep-value pick in the traditional sense, but you could argue he’s undervalued going into the RBC Heritage, which provides a great spot for bettors.

A back injury derailed his 2023 campaign and stunted an otherwise imminent breakout but he’s bounced back in a big way, notching 3 consecutive top-10 finishes, including a 9th place spot at The Masters last week.

He’s one of the best ball-strikers on tour, ranking 8th in strokes gained on approach this season. Iron play is crucial at Harbour Town and provided that his putting remains stable, he’s going to be a viable candidate this weekend.

Denny McCarthy

McCarthy’s 2024 season has been an interesting one. He’s only missed one cut this season and finished 2nd at the Valero Texas Open before a respectable 45th at The Masters. However, he’s yet to have that breakout tournament that pushes him into the top-10.

This is a great spot for that to happen. He’s one of the best putters in the entire field and ranks 3rd in scrambling. His approach game has netted him positive strokes in each of his last 4 events, and really flourished at the Valero Texas Open.

He’s not the longest hitter, but the RBC Heritage is held at a course that demands finesse and precision, something McCarthy has gotten much better at in terms of consistency.

Tom Kim

This is a fun one. Kim was a breakout star one year ago, he’s flown massively under the radar this season. A couple of missed cuts don’t take away from the fact he’s also ranked inside the top-25 on 3 occasions in 2024, and a 30th-place finish at The Masters is bound to have lifted confidence.

Kim won the Shriners Children’s open back in October and although he’s had some struggles with the putter and on approach, his game remains very well-rounded on a larger scale. He missed the cut at the RBC Heritage last season, struggling massively off the tee and with the putter. However, his putter now seems steady and he’s gained strokes off the tee in 6/9 tournaments this season.

A win might be a longshot to call for, but Kim should absolutely have a chance of sneaking inside the top-10 if he can rekindle some of that fire we saw last season. He remains a balanced golfer whose lack of distance off the tee is not going to be anywhere near as damaging as it is at other courses, and that should put him in good stead at the RBC Heritage.

Cam Davis

Another golfer who’s fallen under the radar is Cam Davis. The 29-year-old has finished inside the top-20 in 4 of his last 6 rounds, missing only 2 cuts in 9 tournaments this season. The putter can be sporadic and he struggled on approach at The Players Championship, but he’s gained over 1 shot on approach 3 times this year, marking a real jump in finesse play. If he can channel just an average day by his new standards, he should be in the mix come the final day of the RBC Heritage, with his approach play having the upside of dominating at the RBC Heritage.

Rose spent 2023 rolling back the years and if there is ever a course for a sneaky vet to slide into the top-10 and beyond, it’s this one.

Don’t pay attention to his 3 consecutive missed cuts when placing this lotto ticket. Instead, focus on his performance at Pebble Beach – an 11th place finish around a similar course. His putter remains one of the best on tour and his run at the end of 2023 shows there’s still gas in the tank when it comes to approach play.

Rose finished 25th at the RBC Heritage in 2023 and 14th in 2020. There is every chance he makes a push into contention on Sunday.
