The RBC Heritage is just around the corner and today is your last chance to sit down, scout the field, and see if there are any under-the-radar players who could make you money this weekend. To save you some time and head-scratching, I’ve tried to do the hard work for you!
To put it simply, Kuchar shouldn’t be this cheap. He won the RBC Heritage back in 2014, came 2nd in 2019, and 5th in 2015. In 16 tournaments, he hasn’t missed a single cut around this course. On top of his impeccable course form, Kuchar finished 2nd at his last PGA Tour start and he’s been very consistent on approach over the past few years. While those numbers may have dropped this season he actually ranks 1st in putts per round (in the field) and 30th in approaches from 100-125.
If you bet $20 on Kuchar to win, you’d get $1,320 back. That sounds almost too good to be true for a longshot who has every chance of being in the mix on Sunday.
Hadwin is going to be one of this week’s hot picks. Sure, he missed the Masters, but he has three consecutive top-10 finishes on tour and has gained at least 3 shots on approach in each of his last three competitions.
Poulter’s name won’t be overly popular with bettors this weekend, but it should be. If you want an even deeper value Kuchar-like play, Poulter has a great history here.
His last five events at the RBC Heritage: 48th, 14th, 10th, 7th, 11th.
Not bad.
He also ranks 17th on approaches from 150-175 yards…something worth noting on such a short course.
The smart play here would be to bet on Poulter to finish inside the top-10. A $20 stake would return $140 which is certainly not bad considering how history suggests he should at least be fighting for a spot in the mid-teens.
The wiley veteran may have missed the cut at the Valero, but he’s finished inside the top-25 four times in his last eight events, making the cut in seven. All you need is someone to be in with a shout on Sunday for a bet to look juicy, and Stuard has finished inside the top-20 in two of his last three starts here.
While a $20 bet on him to win it all returns over $3.6K, it’s not really very likely. However. getting $300 if he makes the top-10 off that same bet? It’s a value play. It may not win, but it’s low-risk, high-reward which is exactly what we’re looking for.
So, you don’t want to bet on a 39-year-old. What about a golfer at the same odds who gained a whopping 6 shots on approach at the Valero and has 3 consecutive top-30 finishes to his name? He’s red hot right now and it’s going to be a case of whether or not he can keep that going…but definitely worth a punt at these prices.
