REC Philly launches membership program for local creatives

At noon today, REC Philly officially launched their FREETHINKERS Membership program, a resource for local artists and creatives to grow and develop their careers.

Two years in the making, members will have access to a recording studio, visual lab, recreational room, co-working space and more, for only $34 a month.

“We truly believe that Philadelphia has the most talented creative community in the world,” says Dave Silver, founder and president of REC Philly. “The FREETHINKERS Membership Program not only connects creatives with each other, but also pulls in other industry-related service providers into the community. This creates a new ecosystem for our local creative economy to flourish.”

Privately launched earlier in the year, members already include acts like Hard Work Movement, who’ve had a lot of success thanks to the program.

“When first joining the program, the band was just building their foundation in the Philadelphia music community,” notes Silver.  “Flash forward to a year of them being in it and their resume includes multiple sold-out shows at Johnny Brendas, a slot on Firefly Music Festival and a headlining gig set for September 15th at Underground Arts.”

And for creatives that aren’t musicians? There’s plenty of success to be had there, too.

“Another success story is local videographer, Chase from Guru Media Group. He was working in the REC Room over a year ago, when popular rapper, Tory Lanez, stopped by. Flash forward to today, he’s traveled the world with Lanez and is now a full-time shooter for A$AP Mob,” he reveals.
