Philadelphia now has a new music venue to add to its ever-growing arts and culture scene: Live! at William Street Common. Located at 3900 Chestnut Street, it aims to pick up where local favorite, The Blockley, left off since closing in 2013. The team behind this exciting new space is REC Philly, a marketing agency-meets-incubator for creative entrepreneurs — including musicians.
REC Philly co-founder Will Toms says of the venture:
“Since The Blockley, there’s been a lack of venues, specifically in West Philadelphia, that allow emerging national talent to perform in that intimate ‘first-show’ setting.” He adds, “LIVE! fills this gap and gives entrepreneurs and artists a tool to grow their businesses.” President and co-founder of REC Philly, Dave Silver, also describes the new venue as a “safe haven for networking and collaboration.”
“Providing a resource like this to the Philadelphia creative community is exactly why REC Philly exists,” Silver says.
Live! at William Street Common will open this Friday, Dec. 2 at 8 p.m., for REC Philly’s monthly Underground POV event.
