Now that it’s November and the holidays are upon us, giving back is at the forefront of many people’s minds in addition to holiday shopping.
The folks at Red Owl Tavern in Old City have made it pretty easy to have your pie and give back at the same with Month of 1000 Pies.
Now in its third year, for every pumpkin or apple streusel pie purchased from Red Owl Tavern (priced at $15 each or two for $25), one pie will be donated to Philadelphia nonprofit Philabundance, which is dedicated to eradicating hunger from the Philadelphia and Delaware Valley Region.
“It’s become our holiday annual tradition here at Red Owl Tavern to continue to add new and delicious elements to this rewarding program to help even more people who are hungry and in need at this otherwise warm and wonderful time of year,” says Red Owl Tavern Executive Chef Caitlin Mateo.
The Month of 1000 Pies will run through Thanksgiving on Thursday, Nov. 23.
Pies can be ordered in advance by calling the restaurant at 215-923-2267 or by picking up pies at Grab ‘N’ Go in front of the restaurant.
In addition, if you simply order a slice of pie for dessert at Red Owl Tavern, half of the proceeds will also go to Philabundance during Month of 1000 Pies.
