The revolving door to protect Michael Vick’s blind side is still turning.
The Eagles brought in Reggie Wells last weekend in an attempt to bolster their offensive line. He appeared in eight games with the Eagles in 2010 before getting the boot.
Now, he’s back and has a legitimate crack at being the starting right tackle. Wells ran with the ones in yesterday’s practice. Clearly, the journeyman sees an great opportunity in front of him.
“Yeah, that’s how I’m taking it,” Wells said yesterday. “You never know in the preseason, but at this point I’m coming in to battle.”
Wells’ natural position is left guard, a spot he played 78 times during his seven seasons in Arizona. However, he also saw playing time at right tackle.
“Ultimately, it’s all about getting reps and getting acclimated to playing again,” Wells said. “Right guard was a new position for me. To be honest with you, I played right tackle more than right guard.”
