Report: Douglas arrested for assault

Hugh Douglas was arrested Tuesday after assaulting a woman at a hotel.

Former Eagle Hugh Douglas is making negative headlines again, this time it could cost him legally.

Douglas, who spent six seasons in Philadelphia, was arrested Tuesday on assault charges. He allegedly attacked a woman at a hotel in Hartford, Conn. According to court documents obtained by WFSB 3 in Hartford, Douglas “grabbed her neck” and “slammed her into the walls several times.” The former NFL player told police the accuser’s injuries occurred during “rough sex.”

He is being charged with third-degree assault and second-degree strangulation. He was arraigned and will appear in court on Oct. 21.

This comes six weeks after Douglas was fired from ESPN after he got intoxicated at a party and got into a fight with a network colleague. He reportedly accosted the man and yelled racial slurs at him.

Douglas was the 16th overall pick in the 1995 NFL Draft.
