The Eagles haven’t wasted any time when it comes to finding their next coordinators. According to Mike Garafolo, the team interviewed Kliff Kingsbury on Tuesday.
Most NFL fans will remember Kliff Kingsbury from his time with the Arizona Cardinals. He had one winning season in four attempts as their Head Coach. But somehow, between an 11-6 season in 2021, a seven-year extension, and a promising offseason, the Cardinals lost their way and went 4-13 in 2022, ultimately leading to his firing.
Kingsbury then returned to the college level where he worked as a senior offensive analyst for USC. He made his paydirt at this level, having previously been associated with Texas Tech and the revolutionary Air-Raid offense that once helped fire Patrick Mahomes into the first round.
He also coached at Texas A&M, most notably getting a Heisman season out of Johnny Manziel. Nearly a decade later, he played a role at USC in helping Caleb Williams thrive to a similar level. He’s clearly got a knack for working…or at least being around strong quarterback talent.
Still regarded as a young mind, he’s achieved a lot during his short coaching career. However, the downfall of the Cardinals leaves a lot to be desired, so it’s interesting to see the Eagles go after a Coach who was fired one year into a seven-year contract.
Actually, no it isn’t. It’s not surprising at all.
