Report: Ed Rendell says his infant grandson ‘looks like an old Chinese man’

Former Pennsylvania governor Ed Rendell continued his political-promotional hybrid tour – in which he has managed to work the word “wuss” into nearly every quotable soundbyte – at a breakfast this morning in advance of today’s opening of the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C.

The brash powerbroker has been simultaneously stumping for President Barack Obama (see: this morning’s speech denouncing GOP attacks) and promoting his own three-month-old political memoir, “A Nation of Wusses: How America’s Leaders Lost the Guts to Make Us Great,” (see: yesterday’s book signing at the Charlotte airport).

At this morning’s breakfast with the Maryland delegation to the DNC, Rendell denounced Republican vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan as a liar and urged the Obama campaign to push back against repeated attacks claiming the administration is dismantling welfare work requirements, according to BuzzFeed.

BuzzFeed further reported that at the same breakfast, Rendell joked about his infant grandson, born nearly three months ago to Rendell’s son and daughter-in-law, Jesse and Beka Rendell. “I’m not a wuss, so I can tell ya, he looks like an old Chinese man to me,” Rendell said.

And there’s that word again.
