The focal point of free agency for the Philadelphia 76ers has been the pursuit of Paul George. As free agency opened, all was quiet on the Sixers front until it was announced that the team is bringing back Andre Drummond.
Just a short time later, The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported that guard Eric Gordon is also Philly-bound.
Last season, Gordon averaged 11.0 points while shooting 37.8 percent from three on nearly six attempts per game. After proving that he’s still more than capable of contributing offensively, Gordon declined his $3.4 million player option in favor of entering free agency. After a slow starting day that is continuously picking up, the news now comes of his new deal.
According to Kyle Neubeck of PHLY Sports, Gordon will sign a one-year contract worth $3.3 million, the minimum for an NBA veteran of more than ten years.
Philadelphia gets an experienced source of scoring without committing much in terms of salary. This looks to be a solid move for the Sixers that is logically in conjunction with the addition of Paul George.
