Santa is riding SEPTA.
Saint Nick will be hopping on the Broad Street Line from NRG Station to City Hall to kick off the holiday season as part of the authority’s 31st annual “Santa Express.”
Families who show up at 10 a.m. to NRG, near the stadiums in South Philadelphia, will be greeted with live music, balloon animals and the Phillie Phanatic, SEPTA said. Staff will also be handing out holiday bags and buttons.
The BSL train, which will be decorated, is set to depart from South Philadelphia at 10:45 a.m. and make all stops on the way to City Hall. For those boarding at NRG, the trip will be free.
At the Dilworth Park ice rink, a parade will be held to welcome Santa, and families can join him on the rink or shop for gifts at the Made in Philadelphia Holiday Market.
“We are honored to be part of this cherished tradition and thrilled to welcome families and all riders who want to be part of it,” SEPTA General Manager Leslie Richards said in a statement.
