Police have discovered a body they believe to be Sarah Townsend, the 18-year-old Burlington Township, N.J. woman missing since Monday, reports said.
There has been no confirmation, but around 1 p.m. police found the body in Green Acres III Park in Burlington Township, where her car was discovered Monday, according to reports. It is unclear whether the body was found in the park or in a pond.
Burlington County Public Safety Director Walter Corter told reporters that a K-9 led authorities to the body, but now all calls are being directed to the Burlington County prosecutor’s office.
Townsend’s family had announced a $10,000 reward and put up a roadside billboard to help locate her after her car was found running with her cell phone and purse inside on Monday. Authorities said they found information indicating Townsend may have been suicidal, but her family said they do not believe that.
