Get ready for the most unique race in town.

The 2nd Annual 2nd Place Race will be held on Saturday, July 27, and features an exciting blend of puzzles, challenges, and games, all designed to help you secure the coveted second-place finish. And it’s all for a great cause — to benefit the feminist theatre collective Paper Doll Ensemble.

The adventure kicks off at Quig’s in Plays & Players Theatre, located at 1714 Delancey Street, at 5 p.m. Teams of any size can participate. Throughout the evening, participants will travel a short distance to two other local bars (The Black Sheep and Devil’s Alley), solving puzzles and challenges and playing games along the way.

As you complete the tasks, you’ll collect points that can be traded with other teams. Keep an eye on the leaderboard to see if your team can land in that sweet second-place spot. The team that finishes in second place wins it all. The event is open to everyone, but all team members must be over 21 years old.

This year, the hunt will benefit Paper Doll Ensemble, a feminist theatre collective whose “tragicomedy” style illuminates the absurdity of everyday life and our political climate. Since their inception in 2017, PDE has been featured at Plays & Players Theatre, the Philly Fringe Festival, Alabama International Fringe, and “East to Edinburgh” with 59E59 Theaters in New York.
