School in session for Florida State

Welcome back, Phillies. And welcome to the big leagues, Florida State.

Even without any of the Phab Four on the mound, seven Phillies pitchers combined on a four-hitter Thursday to beat Florida State 8-0 in the team’s first exhibition game.

Drew Naylor, Eddie Bonine, Justin De Fratus, Michael Stutes and Michael Schwimer combined for the shutout.

“We played pretty good for the first time out,” skipper Charlie Manuel said.

Ryan Howard supplied the offense, smacking a two-run double on the first swing of his first at-bat. Domonic Brown finished 1-for-3 with a run scored. Chase Utley and Jimmy Rollins were the only regulars not in Manuel’s lineup.

The Phillies will face the Yankees on Saturday, with Cole Hamels slated to start.
