Schuylkill Expressway crash kills two

Two people were killed in a motorcycle vs. pedestrian crash on the Schuylkill Expressway early Tuesday.

Two people were killed in the second of two consecutive crashes on the Schuylkill Expressway in Lower Merion Township early this morning.

The double fatal accident happened around 1 a.m. at the ramp from I-476 to I-76, 6ABC Action News reports.

The driver of one vehicle in the initial accident was struck by a motorcycle after he exited his vehicle and began walking along I-76 eastbound, according to the report.

The impact killed that man and sent the motorcyclist flying through the air. The motorcyclist was then run over by another vehicle, killing him.

Traffic was gridlocked for five hours.
