Today is the second day of the Philadelphia Vintage Base Ball Exhibition and Fair at the Navy Yard.
The free celebration brings clubs from the Mid-Atlantic Vintage Base Ball League, including the Athletic Base Ball Club of Philadelphia, to compete 1894-style. Teams wear authentic uniforms and use vintage-style bats, balls–and no gloves. Games start at 10 a.m. and last until 4:30 p.m.
The fair also features East Coast oysters, historical ice creams and sorbets and old-fashioned root beer, soda water and spring water from the Franklin Fountain. The Khyber Pass Pub will be on hand with smoked BBQ sandwiches and sides, along with chilled local draught beers.
There will also be a raffle with prizes from Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods and the Reading Terminal Market.
