Before Attorney General Kathleen Kane was indicted, she uncovered a cache of pornographic and racist emails that were being swapped among high-ranking state employees at her office — and at a recent press conference, she claimed that discovery of those emails led to her recent disgrace. Whether or not Kane —who saw perjury charges against her upheld at a Norristown hearing on Monday —was the victim of a conspiracy, the emails in question, unsealed by a state Supreme Court order on Wednesday, include explicit pornography andracist jokes being swapped among prosecutors on a taxpayer-paid salary and private attorneys. Several of the emails originated with Frank Fina, a former prosecutor at the Attorney General’s office who is currently employed by the Philadelphia D.A.’s office. D.A. Seth Williams released a statement that they are reviewing the emails for possible violations of office policy. One email from Fina, titled “New Office Motivation Posters,” has five pornographic images attached of women in office attire that are too graphic for Metro to post even in edited form.
Another email from Fina has the subject line “Sarah for President” and has five pornographic pictures attached that are Photoshopped with former Alaska governor Sarah Palin’s face on them. Prosecutor Robert J. Soop is listed as one of the recipients. Another is Richard Sheetz, a partner at a Troy law firm. Kane at one point came under fire for saying the emails included child pornography, apparently in reference to this email.
