SEPTA to hold virtual career fair targeted to women

In an effort to recruit female applicants to fill a variety of skilled trades positions, SEPTA is holding a virtual career fair this Saturday, June 26. The Women Building SEPTA Virtual Trades and Technical Career Fair is targeted to women who are currently working in skilled trades, as well as those who are interested in starting their careers.

“SEPTA’s talented workforce is the true engine of the system,” said SEPTA General Manager and CEO Leslie S. Richards in a statement. “To build SEPTA’s skilled workforce now and for the future, we continue to advance the Women in the Trades initiative to introduce potential female employees to a wide variety of highpaying, family sustaining careers at SEPTA.”

SEPTA will hold its Women Building SEPTA Virtual Trades and Technical Career Fair on Saturday, June 26, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The session will provide job seekers with information about potential career paths at SEPTA, including how to navigate the application process – all virtually from their computer. Applicants will have the opportunity to meet experienced women in the trades and speak directly with SEPTA’s hiring managers. Technical institutes and vocational colleges will also be in attendance to help women get the training they need to join these growing fields.

SEPTA is looking to fill the following positions: bus mechanic, rail vehicle mechanic, rail vehicle electrical/electronic maintainer, building electrician, welder, HVAC maintainer (vehicle and facilities), construction equipment operator, power trainee, signal trainee, track general helper, and mason.

Job seekers must pre-register for the Women Building SEPTA Virtual Trades and Technical Career Fair by visiting: https://jobs.septa.org/job/Philadelphia-Women-Building-SEPTA-Trades-&-Technical-Career-Fair-Penn-19107/750828300/

Although this event is targeted to women, it is open for men to attend as well. SEPTA is committed to creating a diverse environment and is an equal opportunity employer.
