SEPTA to offer extra late-night service on 4th of July

While the nation celebrates the 240th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence here in Philadelphia, revelers watching the fireworks over the Art Museum can count on extra SEPTA service to help them get home safely.

On Monday, July 4, all SEPTA service will operate on a Sunday schedule, including bus, trolley, Regional Rail and Market-Frankford and Broad Street service. Late-night additional service will be added “to accommodate holiday revelers from the Benjamin Franklin Parkway,” SEPTA said.

Read below for which specific services will be augmented:

Regional Rail:

SEPTA said 19 trains will depart Suburban Station between 10:45 p.m. and 12:35 a.m. making all local stops for travelers leaving Center City after the fireworks. Click to viewtheIndependence Day Late Night Service Schedule on SEPTA.org.

Market-Frankford Line:

There will be eight extra trains dispatched, with service expected every five-to- seven minutes after the fireworks until 12:30 a.m., when Night Owl bus service replaces the trains. SEPTA’s 15th Street Station can give riders access to and from Parkway festivities.

Broad Street Line:

There will be eight extra trains dispatched, with service expected every five-to- seven minutes after the fireworks until 12:30 a.m., when Night Owl bus service replaces the trains. The Broad Street Line stations closest to the fireworks include Spring Garden, Race-Vine and City Hall.

Trolleys:

Routes 10, 11, 13, 34 and 36will have additional service after the fireworks.

Buses:

Bus travel may be affected by detours around the city to accommodate celebrations. Status updates for all transit methods are available on SEPTA.org.
