The victim of an accident Monday afternoon that shut down the Market-Frankford Line for about an hour was a SEPTA employee who is alive and recovering.
The 52-year-old employee, a 27-year veteran of SEPTA, was reportedly working on the ongoing trolley tunnel upgrade and repair project when the el train clipped him and dragged him several feet, the Daily News reported.
The man was reportedly struck at 4:15 p.m. while working on electrical lines for the trolley near the 22nd Street Station due to accidentally leaning too far into the el train’s path.
He is reportedly still recovering at Hahnemann University Hospital.
Trolley tunnels have been closed for a week and are scheduled to reopen the morning of Monday, August 18.
