Seven shot overnight in Philly

Seven people were wounded in shootings Sunday night into Monday morning, including two teenagers who were shot on a basketball court in Northeast Philadelphia.

Police said the teens, a 16-year-old boy and a 13-year-old boy, were struck by gunfire just before 6:30 p.m. on the 9100 block of Academy Road in the Torresdale neighborhood.

The older boy was shot in the right leg and left arm, and the younger one was hit in the right shoulder. Both were transported to local hospitals, where they are in stable condition, authorities said.

Another teenager was hospitalized after shots rang out just after 7 p.m. Sunday on the 500 block of E. Allegheny Avenue in Kensington.

A 17-year-old boy, who was shot once in the back, was taken to St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children. His injuries are not expected to be life-threatening, according to police.

In Strawberry Mansion, a 32-year-old woman was shot in the left arm and left leg just after 9 a.m. Monday in the area of 29th Street and Ridge Avenue, investigators said. She was transported to Temple University Hospital in stable condition.

Authorities said a 27-year-old man showed up to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania after he was shot at around 9:30 p.m. Sunday at the corner of 24th and Tasker streets in South Philadelphia.

The victim sustained a gunshot wound to his right shoulder and is in stable condition, police said.

About 15 minutes earlier, a 29-year-old man was shot in the right calf on the 900 block of W. Huntingdon Street in North Philadelphia, investigators said. He was transported to Temple Hospital, where he is being treated for nonlife-threatening injuries.

In East Germantown, a 29-year-old woman was shot in the right side of her head at around 7:15 p.m. Sunday on the 5500 block of Matthews Street, police said.

A Good Samaritan drove her to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where she was in stable condition, according to authorities.

Police reported no arrests in connection with any of the shootings.

Two men were also injured in separate stabbings.

Officers were called to the 200 block of S. Broad Street in Center City just after 3 a.m. Monday, and they found a 53-year-old man with a stab wound to his right arm.

The assault occurred outside the DoubleTree hotel, according to multiple media reports.

Police said the man was taken to Jefferson University Hospital with injuries that are not expected to be life-threatening.

Investigators recovered a weapon at the scene but have not made an arrest.

A 22-year-old man walked into Einstein at around 7:15 p.m. after he was stabbed a block away, in the area of Ogontz and Olney avenues, authorities said.

He is in stable condition, being treated for wounds to his left hand and forearm.

Woman charged in September hit-and-run

A 33-year-old woman was arrested Monday and charged in connection with a hit-and-run crash in September that left a pedestrian seriously injured.

Authorities allege Monica Kelly was driving at around 3:30 p.m. Sept. 27 on the 300 block of Church Lane in East Germantown when she hit the pedestrian, struck SEPTA and stop signs and continued without stopping

Kelly, who lives in East Germantown, has been charged with first-degree felony aggravated assault, accident involving death or serious injury, criminal mischief, assault by vehicle, driving without a license and related crimes, police said.
