Woman charged with attempted murder of officer
Prosecutors say a woman has been arrested after she allegedly ran over a police officer while fleeing the scene of rioting Saturday, May 30.
Angela Hall, 41, of Southwest Philadelphia, was charged Tuesday with attempted murder, two counts of aggravated assault of a police officer, burglary and other crimes, authorities said.
Hall, the District Attorney’s Office said, was involved in the looting of a beauty supply store near 7th and Chestnut streets. Prosecutors said she waited in a getaway car while others stole items from the business.
The DA’s Office said Hall intentionally hit Police Officer Tony Nieves, who suffered serious injuries.
“This individual’s criminal actions are egregious and resulted in serious, possibly permanent injuries to a police officer who was responding to a situation that was already dangerous,” DA Larry Krasner said in a statement.
Hall is accused of using a rental car during the incident, which she allegedly reported missing May 31 after abandoning it on the 6300 block of Eastwick Street.
Court records indicate a judge set Hall’s bail for the attempted murder case at 10 percent of $500,000.
