The first of SEPTA’s 120 Silverliner V Regional Rail trains will go into service Friday morning before a ceremony at Suburban Station, officials said.
The other 117 cars will arrive over the next year and replace 73 trains manufactured in the 1960s. The new cars feature television screens, digital displays and more space for wheelchairs and bicycles. They are expected to help reduce overcrowding on peak-hour trains.
