Shootings leave 1 dead, 2 injured overnight in Philadelphia

A man was killed and two people were wounded in separate shootings Sunday night and early Monday morning across Philadelphia.

Police said a 23-year-old man died after he was shot in the head at around 12:05 a.m. Monday on the 1400 block of Overington Street in Frankford.

Authorities have not publicly identified the victim. The PPD reported no arrests and did not provide information about a possible motive.

Since the beginning of the year, 152 people have been killed in the city, down 37% compared to the same point in 2023, according to police data.

In North Philadelphia, shots were fired at around 1:45 a.m. Monday, striking a 30-year-old woman in her finger on the 2200 block of N. Carlisle Street, investigators said. No one was apprehended in the immediate aftermath of the incident.

On Sunday, just after 9:30 p.m., someone shot a 37-year-old man in his back near the intersection of 60th Street and Lindbergh Boulevard in Southwest Philadelphia, according to police.

Authorities said the victim was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he was being treated for nonlife-threatening injuries. No one was taken into custody.
