Two men were killed in a pair of shootings late Monday night in Philadelphia.
Just before midnight, someone shot a 56-year-old man multiple times in his face, chest, hands and legs on the 8000 block of Madison Avenue in the Eastwick section of Southwest Philadelphia, police said.
He was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he died minutes later, according to investigators.
Officers were called just after 10:15 p.m. Monday to the 900 block of W. Lycoming Street in Hunting Park, where they found a man with a gunshot wound to his abdomen, police said. The victim, believed to be in his 30s, later died at Temple University Hospital, authorities said.
Neither man was publicly identified, and police reported no arrests in the immediate aftermath of either shooting.
Through Monday, 289 people had been killed in Philadelphia this year, down 21% compared to the same date in 2022, according to police department statistics.
