A man was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head in Frankford, and six others were injured in shootings Monday night into Tuesday morning in Philadelphia, police said.
Investigators are also looking for two men who evaded arrest after critically injuring two pedestrians during a crash Monday afternoon in Kensington.
Officers found an unresponsive 39-year-old man on the street at around 7:40 a.m. Tuesday on the 2000 block of Granite Street, authorities said. The victim, whose name has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene.
No arrests have been made, police said.
Just after 5 a.m., a 45-year-old man was shot twice in the right bicep during an attempted robbery on the 2300 block of E. Ann Street in Port Richmond, authorities said. He walked to a nearby gas station and called police after the shooting.
He was taken to Temple University Hospital and listed in stable condition.
An 18-year-old man was also taken to the hospital after being shot during a robbery in Hunting Park, police said.
He was walking at around 4 a.m. Tuesday on Broad Street near Hunting Park Avenue when a man wearing a black hoodie and a black and blue mask pointed a gun at him.
The victim turned over his wallet and cell phone, police said, but the gunman shot him once in the left leg anyway. Authorities said the 18-year-old walked to Temple Hospital.
About a half hour earlier, a 24-year-old man was shot in a parking lot on the 9400 block of Roosevelt Boulevard in the Far Northeast, according to police.
He suffered gunshot wounds to his buttocks and right thigh, and he was listed in stable condition at Jefferson Torresdale Hospital.
In North Philadelphia, a drive-by shooting at 2 a.m. Tuesday sent two men to the hospital, authorities said.
A 45-year-old man told police he was standing outside his house on the 3300 block of Waterloo Street with another man when a gunman in a truck opened fire on them.
He was hit in the right arm, and the other man, a 20-year-old, was shot in the arm and stomach. The younger man was in stable but critical condition, police said.
Investigators said the shooter was driving a gray Ford F-150.
Police arrested a man after he allegedly shot his adult son during an argument Monday evening in West Philadelphia.
Officers were called to the 600 block of N. 65th Street just after 6:30 p.m. for a report of gunshots, and they found the suspect standing in the doorway of a house with a gun on his hip, authorities said.
He told investigators that he was involved in an argument with his wife and 24-year-old son and decided to shoot his son in the leg because he believed his son had a gun in his fanny pack.
Authorities apprehended the father and took his gun. Detectives continue to investigate the incident and have not released the suspect’s name.
Police are looking for two men who jumped out of an SUV and fled the scene of a crash that sent three people to the hospital Monday afternoon.
They were inside a 2004 silver Volkswagen Touareg that was traveling at a high rate of speed and weaving in and out of traffic at around 3:45 p.m. on the 3200 block of Kensington Avenue, authorities said.
After crossing the centerline, the car hit a 34-year-old man, who was in the street next to parked vehicles, police said. The impact sent him flying over two parked cars and into a nearby pole.
Authorities said the man is in critical condition at Temple Hospital with head trauma, brain bleeding and leg fractures.
The SUV then hit two parked cars, one of which was occupied. The owner of the car, a 34-year-old man, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Next, the car hit another pedestrian. Investigators said they didn’t know the extent of his injuries, but that he was immediately taken to the operating room.
Police said the Volkswagen swerved back into traffic and hit another car that was on Kensington Avenue.
The men hopped out of the SUV and ran away from the crash scene, according to authorities. Police towed their vehicle.
