Shots were fired Sunday night inside a Frankford market, leaving a cashier wounded, police said.
Just after 11 p.m., a gunman entered Bridge Market and Wireless, a corner store at Bridge Street and Torresdale Avenue, and argued with a 27-year-old male employee who was behind a security door, investigators said.
At some point, the suspect pointed a gun through the protective window, kicked down the door and fired at the man, police said. The clerk was hit in the face, and officers took him to Temple University Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition, according to authorities.
Law enforcement officials said the gunman took cash out of the employee’s hand, and PPD Captain Tyrell McCoy told television camera crews at the scene that “several other individuals” entered the business and took money that had been dropped after the shooting but before police arrived.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call or text the PPD tip line at 215-686-TIPS (8477).
Through Sunday, Sept. 14, 716 people had been shot in Philadelphia this year, down 9% compared to the same date in 2024, according to PPD data.
