Sirianni isn’t concerned about offensive bumps and bruises through camp

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni was pretty clear after practice that a balanced camp is crucial. But what was this in response to?

Training Camp bumps for the Eagles offense

The Eagles offense, and quarterback Jalen Hurts specifically, haven’t played to the top of their potential at the start of training camp. While still just a week into camp and with meaningful games not coming for another month, the fanbase has grown increasingly concerned. Many analysts point to the dominance of the Eagle’s defense being the influx of talent that had been placed during the offseason.

“I think when you’re in training camp there is going to be ebbs and flows on both sides of the ball. In fact, that’s what you want. You want there to be ebbs and flows on both sides of the ball. You don’t want one side to dominate the other side. And so, you’re going to look for those. There is no doubt we have good balance on both sides of the football.” Sirianni said after practice.

Still, even Hurts’ struggles have been highly concerning to some. Sirianni, on the other hand, sees a major reason as to why.

“Our defense is presenting challenges both with the looks and then with the players that we have on that side of ball.” Sirianni added.

Wins for the defense in training camp do not mean that the offense will struggle in the season. If anything, it’s important for a skilled defense to execute and give the offense a good look that others would want to run against them.

A strong defensive practice means that Jalen Hurts can look to see what needs to be improved, and what looks other defenses could use against them. The way the Eagles practice runs is also very important because of the number of walk-throughs the team runs.

Just how good is the Eagles defense?

Sirianni doesn’t think that’s an accident either.

“It gives you an opportunity just to get even more plays run, right? We stay right on course with our walk-throughs there, as far as where we are in the process of the install because you can get a lot of plays run and a lot of plays repped.” Sirianni said. “That doesn’t happen unless there is extreme focus and detail that’s happening in the meetings and the walk-throughs. A tribute to the players. They know how important walk-throughs are, and they’re treating that just like a game. We talk about it all the time. You’re full speed to the snap-in walk-through.”

The professional manner the Eagles veterans always participate in helps the outlook of the overall team. A large reason for that is their quarterback and the way Sirianni runs the locker room.

In the early stages of camp, offensive struggles are a natural process of development and growth. If Nick Sirianni isn’t worried about the offense’s recent practices, then the fanbase should follow suit and be patient.
