Six people were shot last night during a basketball game at the Kingsessing Recreation Center.
500 people reportedly gathered to watch the 19-and-over league playoff. Police say that a man opened fire into the crowd during halftime, around 8:50 p.m.
An 18-year-old man was shot in the leg, a 19-year-old man was shot in the knee, a 20-year-old woman was shot in the thigh and foot, a 21-year-old man was shot in the leg and a 23-year-old man was shot in the foot. All are in stable condition at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
A sixth man, 19, was shot in the stomach and is in serious condition.
Police are seeking a 5’8″ to 5’9″ black male aged 22-24 with a dark complexion. He was wearing a white t-shirt, jeans and a black and red baseball cap.
The Kingsessing Recreation Center was one of the 20 rec centers whose hours were extended as a part of the city’s efforts to provide non-violent activities to young people.
