Six shot in Philly on Monday

At least six people were shot Monday in Philadelphia, including a man who was gunned down inside a store in North Philly.

Police said the 29-year-old victim was shot once in the head at around 1 p.m. on the 2800 block of N. 25th Street. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene.

Later in the afternoon, at around 3:30 p.m., a 31-year-old man was shot in the head and leg on the 4900 block of Charles Street in Frankford, investigators said. He died about an hour later at Jefferson Frankford Hospital.

No one has been arrested in connection with either killing.

In Kensington, just after 1:15 p.m. Monday, a 22-year-old man was shot multiple times in the right arm on the 3100 block of Jasper Street, authorities said.

He was taken to Temple University Hospital, where he was being treated for serious, but not life-threatening, injuries.

Earlier in the day, just before 10:45 a.m., a 15-year-old boy was shot in the left calf near the corner of 52nd and Chestnut streets in West Philadelphia, according to police. He showed up at Mercy Catholic Medical Center and was in stable condition.

Officers called to the 300 block of W. Albanus Street in Olney at around 3 a.m. found a 30-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his abdomen inside a house. Police said the shooting occurred on the street nearby.

The victim was transported to Einstein Medical Center and is expected to physically recover.

In Frankford, at around 12:30 a.m. Sunday, a 24-year-old man was shot once in the right leg on the 1500 block of Pratt Street, authorities said. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Monday’s violence followed a weekend during which two people were killed and 11 others were wounded by gunfire.

On Sunday night, at around 10 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 6400 block of Emlen Street in Mount Airy, where they found a 33-year-old man who had been shot in the stomach and both legs.

He was later listed in stable condition at Einstein, police said.

Authorities said a man in his 20s was hospitalized in critical condition after shots were fired at around 6:15 p.m. Sunday on the 800 block of Wharton Street in South Philadelphia.

The victim was rushed to Jefferson University Hospital with wounds to his right thigh and side.
