Blockbuster … nope.
But the Sixers did strengthen their roster at Thursday’s NBA trade deadline by acquiring guard/forward Sam Young from Memphis. The team shipped the Grizzlies the rights to Ricky Sanchez, who was acquired in a 2007 trade with Denver.
“We feel Sam’s overall skill set can be a valuable asset to our team and he adds to our depth at two positions,” Sixers president Rod Thorn said in a statement.
Young, listed at 6-foot-6, 220 lbs., should at least give the Sixers some size in the backcourt. Young was the 36th overall pick in the 2009 draft out of Pittsburgh. He has averaged 6.9 points and 2.4 rebounds in 17.5 minutes per game in 179 games with Memphis.
