PHILADELPHIA. The woman behind Oprah’s favorite macaroni and cheese is one of the most delinquent tax payers in the city, according to records released yesterday.
The city says Delilah Winder, the president and CEO of Delilah’s Southern Cuisine, which operates locations at the Reading Terminal Market and 30th Street Station, owes nearly $1.6 million in back taxes. That is in addition to the $1.4 million that one of her subsidiaries owes.
“I’m working through this with the Revenue Department and have begun a payment plan,” Winder said, adding that those delinquent tax totals relate to now defunct portions of her company, including the shuttered Bluzette restaurant. “All of my active businesses are up to date with what is owed.”
The city — which has collected $3 million since it started publicizing the delinquent list — was unable to confirm last night whether Winder has entered into a payment plan.
